  • What is coaching, and how does it differ from therapy ?
The International Coaching Community defines coaching as "...Coaching is not telling people what to do; it is helping them clarify and control their life. It is helping them evaluate what they are doing now in their life in the light of their goals, dreams, values and intentions. It gives them new choices and leads to change. Coaching helps a person go beyond the mental blocks of what they thought was possible. Coaching works as a partnership between coach and client, it helps to clarify goals, to make them challenging and motivating, then to achieve those goals with the energy that comes from their deepest values." In contrast, therapy focuses on an individual's past to understand their present. Coaching focuses on present state, and is action-oriented to the future. At re-mom, a heavy emphasis is made on change planning and change sustainability within each of our programs.
  • What is the difference between Open Coaching and Mastering Working Motherhood?
Open coaching is a less structured coaching program, where you lead the topic of discussion each session. We can go as deep as you like into each topic - you drive the conversation; we facilitate the change. Maternity Coaching is a structured program that supports the mother throughout her matrescence journey: before the baby is born, while on maternity leave, and when she returns to the workplace. An emphasis is placed on work-life harmony, identity integration, and the reintegration into the workplace. This is done to ensure long term success for the mother in her new identity. Maternity coaching sets the expecting mother up for success both at home and in the workplace before the baby arrives, when the baby is here, and after she returns to the workplace - leaving her with a mindset and resources that supports her in the best way possible during this transformative period of her life.
  • How long are each of the programs?
Both the Open Coaching and Maternity Coaching programs include 5 sessions, comprised of 60 minute sessions each. These sessions are held bi-weekly. Coaching for Moms-to-be is currently in development; the length of this program is yet to be determined. Sign up for the waitlist to keep updated!
